This is far from the first time in China I have seen Uncle Sam in job advertisements. But it is the latest I unexpectedly found myself face to face with this popular symbol of the United States and pondered its usage here.

This is far from the first time in China I have seen Uncle Sam in job advertisements. But it is the latest I unexpectedly found myself face to face with this popular symbol of the United States and pondered its usage here.
This is actually a bit surprising to me. With the problems between the US and China, I would almost expect people there to not be happy with the US, unless of course that is only with the governments.
ReplyDeleteWell, perceptions of the U.S. in China is a complex topic. And even before getting into that, in this case there are questions to ask about people's familiarity with the Uncle Sam symbol.
